Who We Are

Charlotte Studio Artists (CSA) is a vibrant community of local artists brought together by a shared passion for creativity, connection, and the arts.

Our story began in April 2024, when three artists envisioned a place where creativity could flourish—a welcoming space offering affordable artist studios, exhibition opportunities, and room to teach, learn, and grow.

That vision became a reality through a partnership with the YMCA and the transformation of the former Johnston YMCA Child Development Center into a thriving creative space. In January 2025, Charlotte Studio Artists officially opened its doors to the public.

Since then, CSA has grown into a dynamic artistic community, welcoming more than 7,000 visitors, expanding its space by 40%, and bringing together 35 resident artists working across a wide range of styles and mediums.

At CSA, we believe art is more than something to admire—it’s something to experience. Through exhibitions, workshops, special events, and opportunities to meet working artists, we invite the community to discover the creative spirit that makes Charlotte’s arts scene so special.

We are grateful to the YMCA for its partnership and support in helping bring our original vision to life.
